Parent at Sacred Heart

Our family has loved the services we received for our daughter through St. Mary’s. Originally, we had my daughter enrolled in outside speech services that were costly, far in driving distance, and after school hours. We were ecstatic when we found out she qualified for services and was able to receive them during her school day. This was a major relief not only financially but also made our daughter’s academic day not as long with having after-school speech help. After two school years of intervention, our daughter was able to graduate from Speech. She initially had a lisp and now you cannot tell there was ever an impairment. The improvement has boosted her confidence and helped positively impact her ability to make sounds correct phonetically. Throughout her time in the program, we were blessed with two wonderful educators Mrs. Liz and Mrs. Kim. They both were so professional and I was blown away by their extensive knowledge in the field of Speech and Language. As a Reading Specialist, I understand how important it is to have a strong foundation in the areas of Speech and Language for early reading development. I am very pleased that the Archdiocese of St. Louis also sees this importance and has prioritized this intervention for the students in North St. Louis County. I pray this is a service that will continue to be available for all students for years to come

We are so grateful for St. Mary’s Special Services!  Our speech therapist is great at identifying the needs of our students, and she works with each individual to help them improve.  She helps students who need help producing specific sounds, and her work is very helpful for students who have difficulty expressing themselves in social situations.
